Born on 20th May,1958, at Shivamogga, which is on the banks of the River Tunga, Karnataka, Rtn Hunasagatta Lingamariyappa Ravi, popularly known as Huli Ravi in Rotary circles, obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the prestigious National College , Basavanagudi, Bangalore and Post Graduate Masters Degree in Nuclear Physics from Manasagangothri , Mysore University, during the year 1981.

During his College days at Bangalore, Rtn Ravi was influenced by the Gandhian Principles and Programmes propagated by Dr H Narasimhaiah, the then Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University ,and as a student, he also particpated in the agitation against superstitious beliefs which were then rampant in the community.

A founder partner of Ravi Automobiles and Sunil Scooters, which sold two wheeler Kinetic mopeds and Scooters at Shimoga since the year 1982, Rtn Ravi is now a working partner at M/s Lingamariyappa Agencies, Bangalore, trading in whole sale of Onions .

Rtn Ravi and his family grow Arecanut, Coconut, Paddy and various others agricultural crops under Natural Farming methods at Lakshmipura and Javalli villages, near Shivamogga.

Joined Rotary Shimoga East , Rotary International District, on 23 rd January 1984, Rtn Ravi has served the Club as President during 1996-97, Assistant Governor of Shimoga Zone during 2003-04, and Chairman and member of various Committees at the District level. As Club President, Rtn Ravi and Ann Suma, along with four other Rotary families, visited District 3220, Sri Lanka under Rotary Friendship Programme and studied various Rotary Service Projects undertaken by Rotarians and Rotary Clubs there. Currently, Rtn Ravi is serving the District as Governor, with Rotary guidance from Rtn Kalyan Banerjee from Rotary Club of Vapi, Gujarath, who is the third Indian Rotary International President for the Year 2011-12, since the birth of Rotary during the year 1905.

Happily married to Ann Suma, who is a Graduate of Arts from Birur Town and a Past President of Inner Wheel Club of Shimoga East, the couple is blessed with two children, Miss Shruthi, a Software Engineer, working with M/s Cognizant Technology Solutions , Bangalore, and Master Sunil, a student of Computer Science Engineering at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering , Bangalore.
